Happy Birthday Cole!

My boy is 5! (FIVE!) He got up this morning and said "I'm 5!" He opened his couple presents (we got him a Cadillac Escalade ride-on for his big gift...Nana and Pops and Uncle Scott chipped in too) and ate a little cake after breakfast.

For his birthday lunch he wanted to go to Panera and then to Dairy Queen for dessert. (That's my boy!)

Papa and Dee Dee sent him cash and gift cards to Target and he used them to get a digital camera...pictures to come in a later post.

The Escalade came on Friday. I put it together while Cole watched the whole time. We used the battery from his Mustang so he could ride right away. He loved it! He rode until bedtime. Then after sleeping for an hour he sat up in his sleep and was saying "Mum, I want to ride my Escalade" and then fell back to sleep. THEN he got up around 3:00 and came into our bedroom and asked if he could ride the Escalade first thing in the morning, straight away. So, here are pictures from a little after 7am Saturday morning. (He wouldn't smile even though he is the happiest kid in the world! He told me in advance that there would be no smiles b/c he didn't want his picture taken.)

New paint job

Let's just hope that if Cole is a car designer, he is in charge of the interior, not the exterior! Look at how he wanted his Mustang painted!

The Best Day For Kids

Cartoon Network had a special event in a nearby city. It was called "Get Animated." There were games to play, cool markers and 3-D chalk to draw with and free gifts. We went with two of his buddies.

Cole wanted to go on the rock wall...but only to run around the base of it because it was like a bounce house. He has Cutie, the stuffed animal, with him.

Soccer game...

This was Cole's favorite game. You throw the inflated cubes, see what they land on, and then decide which food is healthier. He answered them all correctly and won a ton of purple arm bands. He liked the game at first because of the throwing, but then he just wanted to collect as many bands as he could!

Biking game...

Um, before we went here we went to Dairy Queen. (Not telling which number trip that was!) We had lunch with our friends...and ice cream of course! After we left the Get Animated function Cole said that this was "the best day for kids!" Not so bad for the mommies too, little man.

It's a jungle in here!

Cole and I went to the nursery to get some trees for fall planting. Sometimes I forget that I don't own a big truck...and here is what happens!

Cole in his car seat on the way home. He saw a few monkeys in the jungle!

Dairy Queen

Cole found a new favorite place to go! Dairy Queen! In the past month we have been there so many times that I'm not comfortable revealing the number! :)

This was our first trip. Cole got a chocolate covered ice cream cone. DQ has the best ice cream! Look at that happy face!

Downtown Fun

After Maggie Moo's we went to see the famous Peabody Ducks at the Peabody Hotel. At 11:00 the handler marches the ducks from their home on the roof, down the elevator, onto the red carpet and into the fountain in the lobby.

After the ducks came down, we went up...to the roof.

Cole and the ducks.

After the ducks we took a trolley ride and stopped for lunch. Cole HAD to sit next to his little buddy Claire. He had his arm around her and was hugging her. He's so sweet to the girls!

After lunch we rode the trolley back to Maggie Moo's for more ice cream. The moms needed some!!!! The kids had a coupon for a free sundae. Cole got cotton candy ice cream with gummy bears. I got a chocolate mint yummy ice cream treat!

The kids and their Maggie Moo stuffed animals...just before the policewoman kicked them off of the stage!

Here is what I saw that night before I went to bed...Cole, Maggie and the pigs all snoozin'!

Maggie Moo's!!!!!!

Back at the beginning of July, our playgroup when to a local ice cream treatery for a tour. The kids got to help make waffle cones and ice cream...and decorate a cake. Then they got to sample many flavors and have a cone with their favorite.

Cole got to make waffle cones!

The kids went into the freezer.

Ah, so many choices!!!!

I think I will sample this one...

Mmmm, that's the stuff!

Cole also got to help make the ice cream. Of course he was the only one to stick his hand in it so he could eat some! Luckily it was a drip he scooped up...so the whole batch wasn't contaminated!

Maggie herself showed up to hand out goodie bags.

Monty

One day we went to a local animal shelter so Cole could play with the cats. We both fell in love with Monty, a sweet grey teenage cat. We want him! Dan's gotta cave eventually! (right?)

For The Birds

Our Zoo is having a special exhibit about bees and birds. You get to see bees at work in their hive and walk around a forest like setting with birds flying everywhere. There are sticks with food on the end that the birds will eat. Some will get on the stick. We did this with Dan a few months ago... these pictures are when we went with friends to the zoo a few weeks ago.

All Aboard!

The Disney Christmas Carol train pulled into the downtown station the other day. It was a free event for all. We got to board the train and see the costumes and art design from the upcoming movie A Christmas Carol. After, we got to attend a sneak peak preview of the movie trailer and special effects.

It even snowed! (soap suds)
