Indoor Water Park

Our Playgroup went to an indoor water park for a morning of sprinkler fun. (It was 95 degrees at 10:00 that morning!!!!) The kiddie area was zero entry and then went to 1 foot, then 2 then 2 1/2. Cole "swam" around and had a great time. He even went in the BIG pool with me...a BIG deal! He is not a fish like his mommy.

That's a bug bite on his forehead...we were picking blueberries the day before.

Blueberry Pickin'

A friend invited us to go blueberry picking the other day. Her in-laws have all sorts of fruit trees and bushes on their property. We started at 8am...and yes, we were actually up and ready for this! I have never been blueberry picking...and obviously neither has Cole. We both liked it. The morning was at a comfy temperature and it was so peaceful. After picking a little, Cole and the other kids rode cars and bikes and played while we filled up our buckets with blueberries. I came home with almost a whole gallon zip-lock bag! I am not a fan of blueberries...unless they are in muffins or pies...so as soon as we got home we made both!!! Mmmmm, blueberry treats. Dan was thrilled b/c blueberry pie is his favorite.

Good Influence/Bad Influence

OK, I am not naive enough to think that Cole will never play with toy guns or play shoot 'em up, but I am not encouraging it or playing it with him now! He does go to school and he does play with older kids so he makes the shooting sound and talks about villains and bad guys...a little. Well, the other day we were playing and Cole found a toy piece that he used to shoot the bad guy. He said "I am shooting him with butter!" I asked who the villain was...it was the Bread Man. :) (shooting=bad influence Bread Man=good influence...using imagination.) Later Cole used the shooty thing for a cigar and was smoking a cigar...like Dad. (bad influence) Then we were playing cars and Cole drove a car up to me and goes "What are you making? said the VW." I laughed soooo hard! (good influence...reading to the boy!)

Movie and More

Our Playgroup had a "Movie and More" day. We were able to use the movie room at a local church. It had tiered seating with big comfy chairs...and a HUGE screen to project the movie onto. The kids earned "movie money" throughout the week and were able to spend it on a ticket and popcorn and snacks and drinks. We watched The Bee Movie. After we buzzed around like bees and got some "nectar" out of a flower that had a fun fact on it...like bees communicate by dancing. Then the kids made bees by pressing their fingers on an ink pad and then onto paper. It was a fun day! Cole and I (and some other moms/kids) wore yellow for the bee theme.

One Track Mind

I read Cole a story called The Way I feel. It talked about feelings and emotions. We practiced different faces to go with different emotions. Then we had this conversation:
Mum: What would make you have a happy face?
Cole: Going to buy a car.
Mum: What would make you have a sad face?
Cole: Not getting to go buy a car.
Mum: What would make you feel excited?
Cole: My birthday party. I'm getting cars!
Well, he obviously understands feelings!

Rollin' on the Mississippi River

We went on a riverboat cruise down the Mississippi River. Of course Cole brought cars, so he played before, during and after the cruise! The ride was an hour and a half long. We ate snacks...hot dog, popcorn, moon pie and a chocolate smoothie. There was a lady playing a guitar and singing for our entertainment. This was a Fun Times Group activity so some of Cole's friends were there too. They all were really good...they just played cars and snacked. After the cruise I read a story to the kids.

Pudding Letters

Today Cole practiced printing letters...in pudding! He had so much fun. Mostly because he loves sweets and getting messy. (Although he really didn't get messy like I thought he would. He usually is covered in whatever...on his face, hands, shirt... This he pretty much licked clean!) He made a letter and licked his finger. After we were done he went and washed his hands and face and then gave me a big hug. He was so happy with this new experience.

Max and Ruby

I was looking out the window and saw two bunnies in the yard. I told Cole about them and he smiled and said "It's Max and Ruby!" (A show that he loves and I can't stand...about brother and sister bunnies named, you guessed it, Max and Ruby.) We saw Ruby again in the yard tonight. Don't know where Max was.

4th of July Fun

For the 4th we went to a friend's house for a cookout with other families and then to the fireworks. The show lasted for 30 minutes!!!!! I couldn't believe how good it was. Cole liked them...the fireworks were not loud. (huh?)

Incredible Pizza

We went to Incredible Pizza with our playgroup. It's a really cool place. It's like Chuck E. Cheese's but better. There is a bowling alley, go-kart track, bumper cars, miniature golf as well as lots of games and rides for all ages. Oh, and there is a buffet with pizza (obviously!) and pasta and desserts... Can you believe I didn't mention the food first?! So unlike me! Anyway, Cole had a great time. He woke up the next morning and wanted to go back! His favorite part was riding the Chevy below. (again, obviously!)

Cole's favorite game. Throwing little balls into the fish. Actually, he liked when the balls hit the fish and bounced and came flying out into the game area. He laughed hysterically! The workers kept walking by to drop off the balls that got away.
Tiger Woods he is not. He just wanted to climb on the cars and trucks that were in the miniature golf area. It was a route 66 theme.
