***In case you were wondering what we had for dinner on the 28th, it was kitty food. That is what Cole said. Actually it was homemade BBQ ground turkey. But anyone who knows about my cooking probably doesn't doubt it looking like kitty food. (It was tasty, btw!) Here is the recipe in case you want to make kitty food for your family.
Ingredients:
2 pounds ground beef
1 cup chopped onion
2 cups water
3/4 cup ketchup
2 tablespoons chili powder
2 tablespoons prepared mustard
salt and pepper to taste
Preparation:
In a large skillet, brown ground beef with chopped onion until beef is no longer pink; remove to paper towels to drain. Pour off grease; add water, ketchup and chili powder. Bring to boil, reduce heat and simmer for about 6 minutes. Add cooked beef and onions, prepared mustard, salt and pepper. Simmer gently for about 10 minutes. Serve BBQ beef sandwiches over bulky rolls or hoagie rolls.
***The other day we were coming home and i asked Cole if he wanted to play outside. He said no b/c the "yappy dog" might come over. (The Yappy Dog lives diagonal from us and is NEVER on a lease and just runs wild through the neighborhood. She is a nice dog but jumpy and well, yappy.) We talked about the yappy dog and Cole wondered if the dog lived in the house. I said yes, but the dog goes out to pee and poop in the grass b/c dogs don't go the bathroom in the house and they don't use toilets. Cole goes...I pee in the grass. But I don't poop in the grass. That's my boy! He loves to pee in the backyard.

Treasure Hunt
We went to a local museum with our playgroup. There was a special exhibit about treasure. The kids got to use metal detectors in the "sand" to find treasure, play with puppets and put on a show, pan for gold, control an underwater camera, do coin rubbings... It was a lot of fun.

Roller Skating!!!!!!
Cole went roller skating for the first time! We went with friends who had gone before. Cole was excited to go and once he got his skates on he was ready to go! He did great! I was really impressed. He skated with me and "all by himselp" as he would say. Halfway through the kids get a slushie and then can skate a little more. They do the hokey pokey, the limbo and races. Cole kept saying he liked skating and wanted to go again. I do have to say, seeing the skating rink took me back to 7th grade skating parties!
Double wipeout!

Animal Planet Expo
Over the weekend we went to the Animal Planet Expo. The weather was perfect! Cloudy with a little breeze. There were tons of people with their dogs. At first Cole was a little freaked out but he warmed up and was petting some dogs as we went along. We played some games and got to eat in the sponsor tent...BBQ, what else?! I had the BBQ nachos, my fav. Cole ate BBQ, which he loves and many, many cookies which he loves even more. There was a sweet moment (haha) when Cole said he was going to the treat table to get a cookie for me. Awww! If you knew how much he loves sweets (like his mum) and hates to share treats (like his mum), him getting me a cookie was a big thing. Usually he is just concerned about him having something yummy and guarding it. And he didn't do this to keep me away from his stash, he genuinely wanted me to have a treat too. He is so sweet. Okay, I could go on and on about him, but back to the expo...Cole got his face painted. (wait until you see the picture!) The highlight was getting to touch a Saturn Vue that was on display there. Yes, he touched the tires. He also got to touch the tires of the big Animal Planet Peterbilt. Oh, he was super excited to get a Saturn yo-yo. That boy! You take him to an event about animals and he makes it about cars! He is a green horse. (His favorite animal and color.) FYI, we had some shopping to do after.

Police Station
Our playgroup had this month's kiddie book club at the police station. The children listened to a story about a police officer (while snacking) and then went inside the station for a lesson and a tour. Listening and snacking
Learning about strangers and bullets and guns...OH MY!
Smiling for the mug shot...just kidding! They got us started on a DNA kit. The kids get their picture taken and get fingerprinted.
Getting fingerprinted.
There is his fingerprint!
Cole the warden. FINALLY! Police cars!
Cole has a thing about tires. He always wants to know if they are bumpy and he likes to touch them. As you can guess, I always carry hand wipes!

My Brown Eyed Boy
Every now and then Cole will look at the camera even if he isn't in front of a car. :) I like this picture of my little guy...who is getting bigger by the day. I CANNOT believe he is going to be 4. FOUR! I remember when he was born and for months after we couldn't tell what color his eyes were. They looked gray. Now there is no doubt...and he doesn't have his mommy's eyes...but they are the most beautiful brown eyes I have ever seen.

And the gifts start coming...
Today Uncle Scott's birthday gifts came...I don't need to tell you what he sent. The boy was soooo excited for the package...b/c he knew what was inside...cars! Check out how he inspects the cars to see the symbol and probably the hubcaps. Also, notice how he starts to toss the card aside and then reconsiders in case there is money inside! (I know what he is thinking, he didn't have to say it.)

Cole's Blog
Just in case you were wondering...Cole started his own blog. (so he says) He has a play laptop that he now carries around with him and brings into my bed. Here he is checking his email and typing stories for the blog. The emails that he got were from his friends telling him what cars they like.

Shopping Day
At the mall there was a train. Cole wanted to ride...but of course he didn't want his picture taken. Every time he came around to where I was standing, he would turn his head so I couldn't get a picture! He is such a stinker!!!! He liked the train ride. He got to sit in a car with two girls and they were all laughing the whole time. He also exercised chivalry. The girls got out of the car first and I told him it was so nice of him to let the girls go ahead of him. There were Saturns at the mall!!!!!!
Videos below...watch the one on the bottom first...

Kiddie Olympics!
Our play group had Kiddie Olympics yesterday to celebrate the real Olympics in Beijing. The kids all made flags that we hung on the wall. We talked a little about the Olympics, had an opening ceremony complete with Olympic torches, the American flag and theme music. Then the kids participated in events such as "the balance beam", "volleyball", animal races, "swimming", "shot put"... It was really cute! Most of the children had fun. I say most b/c MY CHILD wasn't too interested in the whole thing. He was that morning, but when we got to the venue all he wanted to do was run around with his friends! He did participate in each event. There were no individual winners...they're all winners! (yelling like on Seinfeld!) All the kids received a certificate stating what they were "so good at" and a medal. The animal race...dogs, cats, horses...
The Olympic Team
Opening ceremonies...the bringing in of the Olympic flame.
The National Anthem
Concentrating on the balance beam.
Cole was so good at racing like a horse and cow in the animal races.

It's the little things...
Here are some little things from the past few days...
I went to my room to get dressed into play clothes and Cole went to his room to do the same...when I saw him I laughed b/c we had the same outfit on! Both of us had on our blue Old Navy flag shirts and gray sweats! The boy is so far up my ass that he is in my head!
Dan and I went out to dinner last night and I wore a dress...Cole said I looked Beautiful and he liked my outfit and could I wear it to the grocery store? :)
The boy has to smell everything! He just got done smelling my new laptop.

Tuesday/Wednesday
Tuesday when we were leaving Borders I saw these red cherry wax lips with vampire teeth. Max (from Max and Ruby...the show I can't stand) wears them in an episode. I had to get them for Cole so he could be even more like Max. He was so excited! Ah, the little things in life can bring so much happiness. All for just a dollar too! (Just like in the show! )Today after meeting a friend for lunch we went to Old Navy. Last time we were in this plaza we sat on the bench and had a snack and watched the cars go over the speed bump. (Guess who had that idea?!) It started b/c Cole knew what it felt like to go over the speed bump while in the car, but didn't know what it looked like from the outside. Soooo, when he saw it, he couldn't get enough! Now whenever we go to this plaza I have to make sure to have a snack and extra time to watch the cars go by. (Luckily the bench is in the shade and there was a breeze today!)
