He Melts My Heart

Cole said to me:

"Mum, I'm glad God made you the way he did. I'm glad he made you my mommy. I wouldn't want any other mommy."

Awwwww. My sweet boy.

Driveway + Chalk + Cars = FUN

It was beautiful after school on Thursday so we played outside all afternoon. I got out the chalk and made all kinds of colorful roads for Cole's cars to drive on. It's kinda hard to see all the roads...and YES, Cole does own other clothes besides this outfit and his Wall E pajamas! They are just his favorites so he wears them all the time!

Interview with Cole

INTERVIEW WITH MY CHILD
*This is an interview going around all the blogs.
*I asked Cole the questions and wrote down his answers. He did good at first, then he got all sidetracked by wanting treats and wanting to be done.
*If he said "I don't know" I tried to probe...but sometimes that is all I could get out of him.

1. What is something mom always says to you?
"No treats" Um, the kid bugs day and night for treats.

2. What makes mom happy?
If I don't moan. HOW TRUE!

3. What makes mom sad?
When I don't listen.

4. How does your mom make you laugh?
(he just laughed)

5. What was your mom like as a child?
He said I played with baby toys.

6. How old is your mom?
3 1/2 (what?????)

7. How tall is your mom?
So tall.

8. What is her favorite thing to do?
Do grown up stuff. Like watch TV when I go to bed. (Yay, DVR!)

9. What does your mom do when you’re not around?
watch TV

10. If your mom becomes famous, what will it be for?
I don't know that word. (I explained, but he still wouldn't answer. Guess he just wants to keep me all to himself!)

11. What is your mom really good at?
Putting jackets on.

12. What is your mom not very good at?
looking for my toys. (yeah, Mum isn't too good at finding the blue Mazda with shiny hubcaps and a spoiler that he got at Walgreens in his sea of cars. He knows what car he wants and no other will do!)

13. What does your mom do for a job?
No job for Mum. (Dan jokes that he will stay at home with Cole and I can go to work...good luck with that!...and Cole gets all mad b/c he wants Mum home with him...so, no job for Mum! :) )

14. What is your mom’s favorite food?
cheddar broccoli soup (from Panera)

15. What makes you proud of your mom?
not groaning. (Hey, I have to dish it back out to him!)

16. If your mom were a cartoon character, who would she be?
a cookie

17. What do you and your mom do together?
play and snuggle

18. How are you and your mom the same?
He pointed to my heart...we both have a heart.

19. How are you and your mom different?
I don't know.

20. How do you know your mom loves you?
snuggles

21. What does your mom like most about your dad?
watch TV and drink coffee (I think he is referring to Sunday mornings)

22. Where is your mom’s favorite place to go?
Panera (oh yeah!)

Funny Cole

Here are some funny stories about Cole from the past few months:

**Background info...a week before this story I gave Cole a Speed Racer car that you put in water and it grows 4 times it's size.**
Cole and Dan went to (as Cole calls it) "Yamaha Steaks" (Omaha Steaks) to get some steaks for dinner b/c they were having a half-off sale. They came frozen and the directions said to soak in a bowl of water for so many minutes to thaw. Cole looks over at the bowl and asks "How big will the steaks get?"

I was in the middle of something and Cole wanted me to help him with something. I told him to wait a minute until I was done and he goes "You know I'm not patient, Mum."

One day I used the word "obsessed" in front of Cole. Weeks later he was outside with Dan looking across the street at the neighbor's driveway which had their three vehicles in it...all GMCs. Cole says "Those people are obsessed with GMCs."

We all went to Toys R Us one Saturday afternoon. Cole was checking out the ride-ons and really liked this one Ford. Later at dinner Dan asked Cole what ride-on he likes best of all. Cole says "The Cadillac Escalade Dad, you know I have been bugging about it for years."

Today when Cole and I were on our way to the Chevy car lot and Barnes and Noble, I noticed these beautiful trees in full blooms of white that looked like they were snow trees. I said "Look at the pretty trees, Cole." and he said "No, look at the pretty Volvo." (the Volvo was right in front of us.)

**A sweet story**
The other week I had a run in with my flat iron and burned the side of my face. Cole saw the red marks and asked if he should pray for me. I said sure...who couldn't use the sweet prayers of a 4 year old? Cole said "Dear God, bless Mum, she got burned. Amen."

Park Days

In the past two weeks we have had some pretty nice days. We were so happy to be able to play outside again and go to the park!!

I had my old camera handy...and wasn't about to get out of the shade...so these pictures aren't good at all. But it gives you an idea of some parks Cole goes to.

St. Patrick's Day 2009

Yesterday our play group had a St. Patrick's Day activity. The kids listened to Irish music, heard a St. Patrick's Day story and did a sorting and graphing activity.

For the activity you need Lucky Charms cereal, little baggies (filled with the cereal), crayons and homemade graph.

Have the children sort the cereal...a pile of rainbows, a pile of hearts, a pile of moons...

Count each kind of marshmallow and color in the graph accordingly. (color 5 squares if there are 5 balloons, color two squares if there are 2 horseshoes)
Then talk about what kind of marshmallow he/she had the most of/least of.

Mum and Cole with St. Patrick's Day shirts on...

...and matching socks!!!!

(Cole HAD to have the same socks as me. There weren't any in a child's size, and he wouldn't get another pair with shamrocks, he only would get these!)

Grandkids

Last month Cole told me that he was going to have 10 kids when he grows up. Dan asked him what kind of job he was going to have to support all those children. Cole said he wasn't going to have a job. Dan said you need a job to make money so you can buy food...how will you feed your kids? Cole said "Mum'll make them something." Yes Mum will! :)

Here are some names of my future grand babies:
Johnny, McQueen, Olivia, Marlee, Acura MDX, Momma Veracruz, Ford Flex, Mustang, VW Bug and Momma Infinity.

Friday Fun

We went to this great gym where kids could run around and play on different mats, a trampoline and a bounce house. The floors were bouncy gymnastics floors. Cole and his buddy Carter had a super time. They were the last two to leave! Their favorite was the trampoline, which was flush with the floor. They ran on it, jumped on it and fell on it.

Jump, jump!

Cole is super fast!

Ready, set, jump!

Cole's Job

Cole loves his friend Bennett's cat Vanilla Wafer. While Bennett (and his family) are basking in the Hawaiian sun, Cole happily accepted the job of feeding the cats.

Long Days

On days when you are stuck inside, try this: Write some activities on index cards and have your child pick one...do the activity for 5 mins and then pick another card. Repeat until all the cards are gone.

I put some activities on the cards that Cole likes to do but doesn't usually pick to do on his own.

Cole loved this activity! He couldn't wait to pick another card to see what he would do next. I even got him to do somethings he normally won't do!

Of course, you could make the activities last longer than 5 minutes. It all depends on your child's attention span.

Here are the cards I used. I made them as soon as I thought of this idea, so they aren't real fancy.

Icicles

The snow started melting and then froze again, so we had icicles on the drains outside. I pointed them out. Then at school we saw more and I pointed them out. After school Cole got his hair cut and there was a fountain out front with icicles and I pointed them out. When we were getting into our vehicle, Cole looked at the truck next to us and said "That truck has testicles!" I figured that it had something hanging down, so it didn't phase me...until I looked. Icicles! The truck had icicles hanging from it. I busted out laughing...and haven't stopped since!

Cole Likes Green Eggs and Ham

March 2nd is Dr. Seuss's birthday. Cole and I hosted KBC here. We read Green Eggs and Ham, watched the video, made place mats and of course, ate green eggs and ham!!!!!! Cole actually liked the food! Most of the other kids did too...once they tried.

In Like A Lion

March came in like a lion, and we got our one big snow. I think we got close to 3 inches. Cole was super excited to get out there and play! His favorite thing to do was just roll around and crawl in the snow. His second favorite thing was throwing snowballs in the road.

We made a snowman. He lasted three minutes and then Cole destroyed him.

Cole, Dan and the snowman.

Cole destroying the snowman.

Taking a ride on the sled.

Making a snow angel.
Yes, those are COW boots. I couldn't find any winter boots in his size so a friend suggested getting rain boots...that way he can wear them in the snow and then again in the spring when it is rainy and muddy. He saw those boots at Target and loved them.

This is what Cole wanted to do for his picture with Mum.

Snowball fight!

Driving on the ice.

Laying in the snow.

Throwing snowballs in the road.

See all the snowballs in the road?
