Car Songs

It should come as no shock to anyone that Cole likes songs with cars in them. I try to find real songs (by real songs, I mean songs on the radio) that have cars in them...like It's Still Rock and Roll To Me by Billy Joel (how about some white wall tires... and something about all you need are looks and a blue continental, Pink Cadillac by Aretha Franklin, Get Out of My Dreams, Get into My Car by Billy Ocean. beep beep.

Well, today we saw a Saturn Sky and I started singin' "Bye, bye Saturn Sky" and then it hit me to sing the real words b/c of the Chevy and the levy. So Cole has me sing it a million times so he can learn it and all of a sudden he goes, "Let me ask you something." ok "What kind of Chevy is it?" I burst out laughing!!!!

After some discussion of the time period this song came from and what kind of cars were around then we decided that maybe he was singing about an old Impala.

More Fall Fun!

The past few days we continued with our fall activities. We made foil leaves and fall rice krispies treats.

If you are looking for an excuse to eat a whole bag of fall Hershey Kisses, this activity is for you!

To make foil leaves:
1. draw a leaf on a leaf colored piece of construction paper and cut it out...all while eating a Hershey kiss.

2. squirt lots of glue on the leaf and press the Hershey kiss foil down.

3. add a stem
OBVIOUSLY Cole didn't want his picture taken. What else is new?!?!?!

We added red and yellow food coloring to the marshmallow mixture to make orange fall rice krispies treats. Then Cole added fall sprinkles.

It's Fall!

I have to admit...we couldn't wait for fall... we did these things a few days ago. It started because I was going through the pantry getting rid of stale cereal. The Apple Jacks were past prime so they had to go. On the way to the garbage can I was looking at the AJs and thought...hey we could make a pumpkin! So we did! We took a paper plate, covered it with glue (and what kid doesn't love to squirt glue all over and again!?!?!?) and then put the orange apple jacks in the middle and the green ones on top for the stem. Of course Cole snacked on the stale rings, and didn't seem to mind. Had I thought of this the night before I would have had Cole color the paper plate orange first to make it look better. Also, if you do this activity and use toooooooo much glue the glue will absorb into the apple jacks and shrink them and make them dark...like if they were left in milk. ****You could also do this with fruit loops and make apples. Oooh, that just gave me the craft idea for our apple party on Friday!!!! :) (Our playgroup is getting together to celebrate fall...look next week for those pictures!)

Sharing a milkshake

One day Cole and I went to Barnes and Noble and out to lunch. The milkshake special was chocolate Oreo...how could I resist? How could Cole resist? We shared the yummy shake but when it came to the last sip we both sucked so hard that milkshake came flying out of the glass and got all over us! Now that is a dedicated sugar junkie for you! (well, actually two sugar junkies!)

First Day of School

Cole did great on his first day of school! He went right in and started playing (with cars, what else?!) He knew his teacher, Mrs. Sybil, from last year and she just loves him. She lights up when she sees him and she can't wait to give him a hug. He really likes her too. What a difference from last year. I am glad it is going well. Of course he doesn't want to go to school but he is fine. He picked out the shirt to wear. The kid has a thing for long sleeves! Good thing fall is upon us. The back pack is from Papa and Dee Dee...they gave it to him for Christmas last year. Check out his old school lunch BOX! No, it didn't come with a thermos! He picked it out. (He used it for his cars for the past few weeks, but now it is for lunches.) Oh, as you can see, he is in the lime green room. (why people? why would you choose crazy lime green?)

I peed a C!

Okay, no pictures for this one...for two days in a row Cole has peed letters. For those of you who have boys (or penises) you know that when a male pees, there are bubbles in the toilet water where the pee hits. Well, one morning Cole pees and when he is done he says "I peed a C!" and sure enough, he did. (the bubbles were swirling around and looked like the letter C. I WAS tempted to take a picture, but just couldn't photograph the TOILET! Then the next day the bubbles connected to make an O. If tomorrow there is an L I would say my boy is on the fast track to the Guinness Book of World Records...or David Letterman for stupid human tricks! :) It is surprising that he hasn't peed a car, since he breathes, plays and lives for them.

Cole's 4th Birthday Party

*Cole had a great time at his birthday party.
*He wanted a mustang cake...green mustang in the grass and mud.
*He got a lot of great presents.
*Cole wore a Hot Wheels shirt...I wore a Mustang shirt/hat combo and Dan wore a Firebird shirt/hat combo. The things we do for the boy!

I have been starting blog entries and saving them so on a slow day I could just post an old entry. WELL, it doesn't work that way. Cole's Birthday presents

On Saturday morning we gave Cole his presents. He got a John Deere tractor, many many cars, a race track rug and a race track set. He loved everything and played and played.

Great Grandma's Garage

Cole's great gram sent him money for his birthday. We went to Toys R Us and Cole got a parking garage. He loves to park his cars...so this was perfect! AND he actually wanted to look at the camera for pictures. I told him to just play and he didn't have to look at the camera and he was like...no, i want to look at the camera! Go figure!

Sesame Street Live

We took Cole to see Sesame Street Live. He really liked the show. We got the soundtrack and have been listening to it in the car. It was about what the monsters want to be when they grow up. I asked Cole what he wants to be when he grows up and he said a VW Bug.

My Boy Is 4!

I can't believe my boy is 4. The past years have gone by so fast. I love to look at my photo albums and scrapbooks and remember when he was "little". Here are pictures from his birth, first b-day, second, third and fourth birthday. Oh, how he has grown! He was 21 inches and 9 pounds 13 ounces at birth and now he is almost 3 1/2 feet tall and 33 pounds soaking wet. Who would have guessed that chubber baby would be so skinny! I love my boy more than words can say. He makes me laugh and smile everyday. Before he got here people would say "Oh you are having a boy, how wonderful! There is nothing like the bond between and boy and his mom." I didn't get it at all when I was pregnant, but after a little time with him I knew. He is my little buddy, my shadow, my sidekick. I love that I get to spend so much time with him...and on a daily basis I realize that before long he will be in school full time. I will probably just walk into walls and rock in the corner, but for now we will just play, have fun and snuggle.
