Green Party

Our play group had a green party! The kids wore green...
Played with green toys...

Imagined a world that was just green, then colored a picture using only green markers and crayons...

Ethan decorated cups for all the kids!

Mrs. Tammy made green bread!

The kids also ate popcorn, grapes, kiwi, apples, veggie straws and jello. They had Kool-aid to drink. Everything was GREEN!

The kids made green guy planters. They planted grass, so when it grows their guy will have green hair!!!!

It was a fun party!

Movie & Dinner

We went to see Despicable Me and then went to IHOP to eat Despicable Me food! I love when IHOP has movie food! They had Horton Hears A Who food when that movie came out...and now this. Can't wait to find out the next movie they adopt!
The kids got colored lemonade with crystal sprinkles on them. AND because there were minions in the movie, the kids got cinni-minions...yummy fried dough with sprinkles and icing. Mmmm.

Fun Downtown

Last summer our playgroup had a fun play date downtown, and this year another playgroup was doing the same thing!
We started out watching the Peabody Ducks...
Then we rode the trolley. Cole loved it because he could see the steering wheels of the cars that were parked on the street!

Then we went to eat at the Flying Fish...

There were Billy Bass fish all over the walls!!!!! If you donate yours, you get a free meal!

Even though it was a million degrees out and Mrs. Tammy (our ride) locked her keys in the car, we had a really great day!

Cole is a Yellow Belt!

Cole is on his 3rd belt! He is now a yellow belt. He was excited to go through the testing. He had to do certain combination moves and the first sequence in a pattern they will learn.

Car Wash Kiddie Book Club

Our play group had kiddie book club at a car wash!
Cole loves to go to the car wash...mostly because they give out suckers! I found a book called Car Wash and read it to the kids. It was sooo hot out that we decided to put the kids in the back of my SUV to listen to the story. After I was done reading, the kids stayed in the back and we went through the car wash. (I think I heard Cole's heart break when the guy said they were out of suckers.)

2 Fun Library Days

The local libraries have been doing some cool programs this summer. We went to a talk about desert animals and got to see a prairie dog, a snake, a turtle and a fox...

Then we got to create art Eric Carle style! We heard about the author/illustrator and then drew a picture and filled it in with different papers. Cole made a calf in a barn with hay. A beautiful sunset was in the background...

I told him to write his name on the back and he wrote Mustang, so we decided to do it up Eric Carle style and glued paper down over the letters.

4th of July

It is tradition to go over our friend's house for swimming and a cookout before the fireworks. This year I brought colored hair gel and this is what the kids looked like:

We decided to go to an open field near the fireworks this year b/c it is always so crazy trying to get out of the venue. The kids had tons of room to run wild and we got out immediately after the fireworks! :)
Here we are in our traditional Old Navy Flag shirts...

Cole is obsessed with Consumer Reports and what they think about cars. We have the issue that rates all the new cars out and Cole studies it to see what cars are recommended. He got it out and was telling the other kids about some cars...

It was a really nice night. Not hot at all. We all brought blankets and snacks and toys and had a good time hanging out watching the sky light up. I think the favorite this year was the smiley face fireworks.

Day Campers

Friends of ours bought a camper recently and have been living in the wilderness on weekends. The three of us were not up for that, so we decided we could be day campers and go for the day and into the evening and then go home to our nice comfy beds that don't overlook the kitchen. :)
When we got to the campground we went swimming in the lake first. The kids loved the lake b/c the bottom was all squishy, slimy and muddy. They had their share of mud fights that day. The scenery was nice and the day was beautiful.

When we were done swimming we showered and then the kids played. We brought Cole's Mustang ride-on and the kids had a blast.
Then all the men cooked dinner. The kids got their own table and planned what they would do when they were done eating...they couldn't wait to make smores!!!!! (Neither could I!!!!!) We brought these gigantic marshmallows that are like the size of three regular ones!

Mmmmmmmm.
